Top Players Advance at BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells

The stars continue to shine at the BNP Paribas Open as top players advance through the draw at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.

World No. 4 Alexander Zverev secured his fifth career win over Matteo Berrettini, reaching the third round with a straight-sets victory. The German standout fired 19 winners and committed just 11 unforced errors in the 1-hour, 12-minute match on Stadium 1. Zverev is still chasing his first title at the tournament after reaching the quarterfinals in both 2021 and 2024.

On the women’s side, world number one Aryna Sabalenka cruised into round three with a comfortable win over Himeno Sakatsume, who was making her debut at a WTA 1000 event. Sabalenka closed the match 6-2 in the second set, marking her 100th match as the world’s top-ranked player.

Meanwhile, American Ben Shelton battled back from a set down to defeat fellow American Reilly Opelka. The eighth seed sealed the comeback with a 6-3 third set and will now face Learner Tien for a chance to reach the fourth round.
