Gene Autry Trail Reopens as Indian Canyon Drive Remains Closed

Road conditions are continuing to shift across the Coachella Valley following strong winds and blowing sand.

Officials in Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs say North Gene Autry Trail has reopened after earlier closures due to hazardous visibility.

However, North Indian Canyon Drive remains closed in certain areas as crews continue to monitor conditions caused by drifting sand and gusty winds.

Authorities say Indian Canyon Drive between Sunrise Parkway and Garnet Avenue has seen periodic closures and reopenings as visibility changes throughout the morning.

Drivers are encouraged to continue using alternate routes, including East Vista Chino, Ramon Road, and Highway 111, while conditions stabilize.

Officials say they will keep monitoring the situation and provide updates as road conditions improve.
