Acting Attorney General Says Only Trump Knows Why Pam Bondi Was Fired
The acting attorney general says there are still no clear answers about why Pam Bondi was removed from her position — and that only the president knows the reason.
During his first news conference, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche declined to explain the decision, saying he would continue leading the Justice Department as he had previously.
Blanche emphasized his support for the president, calling it “the greatest honor” to serve, but avoided directly addressing questions about Bondi’s dismissal or potential changes within the department.
He also declined to weigh in on ongoing issues tied to the Justice Department, including questions surrounding the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and a related congressional subpoena.
Blanche said decisions related to the subpoena would be left to lawmakers, adding he was not prepared to commit to any specific course of action.
When asked about national security matters, including tensions involving Iran, Blanche said the Justice Department continues to support the White House and Department of Defense by providing legal counsel.
He also addressed concerns about leaks of classified information, stating the department will investigate such cases and could pursue subpoenas if necessary.
Bondi’s removal follows mounting scrutiny over her handling of high-profile cases, including the Epstein investigation, though no official explanation has been provided.
The lack of clarity surrounding the leadership change continues to raise questions about the direction of the Justice Department moving forward.
