Average County Gas Price Records First Back-To-Back Decreases Since January

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular
gasoline in Riverside County dropped for the second consecutive day following a
run of 68 increases in 70 days totaling $1.742, decreasing 1.3 cents to $5.857.

The average price is 1 cent more than one week ago, 63.7 cents higher
than one month ago and $1.082 greater than one year ago, according to figures
from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price also dropped 1.3 cents on Thursday, its largest
decrease since a 1.7-cent drop on Jan. 6. The back-to-back decreases are the
first since a five-day streak of dropping prices from Jan. 17-21 totaling 1
cent.

The average price is 51.6 cents less than the record $6.373 set on
Oct. 5, 2022.

Prices were rising slightly in line with seasonal norms before the
joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28 sent oil prices higher and
drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.

The 12-day streak of increases to the national average price totaling
18.6 cents, including two-tenths of a cent on Thursday, ended with a decrease
of 1.3 cents, its largest since dropping 1.5 cents on Dec. 20.

The national average price is 6.2 cents more than one week ago, 61.4
cents higher than one month ago and 93.1 cents greater than one year ago. It is
86.3 cents less than the record $5.016 set on June 14, 2022.
