Dust Advisory Extended Through Coachella Weekend Amid Gusty Winds
A windblown dust advisory has been extended through Sunday morning across much of the Coachella Valley, creating potential health concerns as large crowds gather for the festival weekend.
The South Coast Air Quality Management District says gusty winds could reach up to 45 miles per hour, increasing the likelihood of blowing dust and reduced air quality throughout the region.
Medical experts recommend taking simple precautions to reduce exposure. Wearing a mask can help protect against fine dust particles, especially for those spending extended time outdoors. Residents and visitors are also advised to limit strenuous outdoor activity when conditions worsen and to use air purifiers indoors if available.
With thousands attending the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, officials say staying informed and prepared will be key to safely enjoying the weekend.
