After more than four years off the air, HBO’s hit series “Euphoria” is finally returning—but much has changed since viewers last saw the show.
When the series first premiered in 2019, it quickly gained attention for its raw portrayal of teenage life, addiction, and trauma, earning critical acclaim and multiple Emmy wins, including two for Zendaya’s lead performance.
Now, Season 3 arrives in a very different environment. The new season picks up five years after the events of Season 2, with characters no longer in high school and facing more adult challenges centered on faith and redemption.
Off screen, the show’s stars have also seen major changes. Zendaya has become one of Hollywood’s biggest names, while Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi have also reached new levels of fame with major film and television roles.
The production itself has faced challenges as well, including delays tied to industry strikes and reported creative differences behind the scenes.
The new season also carries emotional weight following the loss of cast members. Angus Cloud, who played fan-favorite Fezco, died in 2023, while Eric Dane, who portrayed Cal Jacobs, died earlier this year after filming scenes for the final season.
Despite those changes, the show moves forward with a new direction, including a shift in music, with composer Hans Zimmer contributing to the season premiere.
As “Euphoria” returns, questions remain about whether the long break and evolving cast will impact its connection with audiences—but its comeback is already one of the most talked-about moments in television this year.
