400 Drones Over I-10 Are Advertising the "Masters of the Universe" Movie

If you spotted a swarm of glowing drones over Interstate 10 near the Classic Club in Palm Desert last night, you weren't imagining things. It was an ad, and it's coming back tonight.

Mattel Studios and Amazon MGM Studios are behind the display, promoting their upcoming live-action "Masters of the Universe" film, a He-Man reboot set to hit theaters June 5th. To reach festival-bound drivers stuck in Coachella traffic, the studios hired drone company Heads in the Sky to fly 400 synchronized drones over the freeway corridor near Classic Club Boulevard in Palm Desert, creating images of characters like He-Man and Skeletor, along with messages like "HONK FOR HE-MAN" and "SHOULD HAVE LEFT EARLIER."

The show runs twice tonight, Friday, April 17th, at 8:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. The same two time slots ran on Thursday night.
