Survey Ranks Five Guys as Best Fast Food Burger in America

Americans have spoken, and the results of a massive new survey from YouGov place Five Guys at the very top of the fast-food burger mountain. The poll, which gathered data from more than 40,000 consumers across the United States, sought to determine which chains are truly the favorites among a population that consumes a significant amount of quick-service meals.
Five Guys claimed the number one spot, securing 15.5 percent of the total vote. The victory was a narrow one, however, as Burger King followed closely behind in second place with 15 percent of respondents choosing it as their favorite. The remainder of the top five included In-N-Out, Wendy's, and McDonald's, showcasing a mix of massive global players and regional favorites.
The presence of In-N-Out in the top rankings is particularly notable for residents here in the Coachella Valley, where the chain remains a staple for locals and tourists alike. With several Five Guys locations also operating throughout the Valley—including popular spots in Palm Desert and La Quinta—local burger enthusiasts have easy access to the top-rated chains in the country.
Beyond just ranking specific brands, the YouGov data shed light on how often Americans are visiting these establishments. According to the findings, 70 percent of consumers report eating at a fast-food restaurant at least once every month. Even more striking is that nearly a third of those surveyed admitted to eating fast food at least once a week.
While the competition remains fierce between the "Home of the Whopper" and the custom-toppings model of Five Guys, the data suggests that American appetites for burgers show no signs of slowing down. Whether it is the convenience of a drive-thru or the specific taste of a peanut-oil-fried burger, these five brands continue to dominate the national and local food landscape as the preferred choice for a quick meal.
