Palm Springs Marks Lesbian Visibility Week With Citywide Events
The city of Palm Springs is celebrating Lesbian Visibility Week with a series of community events recognizing the contributions and history of lesbian leaders in the region.
The week began with a flag-raising ceremony at noon at the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert on North Palm Canyon Drive. During the event, Mayor Naomi Soto issued a formal proclamation recognizing the occasion and honoring trailblazers within the local LGBTQ+ community.
Organizers highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen community support, including the planned merger of the L Fund with the community center, which they say will expand services and outreach moving forward.
The main feature of the week is a multi-day exhibit titled “Trailblazing Lesbians of the Coachella Valley,” which will be held at the Wellwood Murray Memorial Library starting tomorrow through Sunday. The exhibit honors both past and present local leaders who have helped shape the region’s LGBTQ+ history.
Additional events throughout the week include a film screening, coffee meetups, and a wine tasting, with the full schedule available through the city’s official channels.
