Indio Sports Park Opens to the Public May 16

Indio residents will get their first chance to visit the city's brand new sports park on May 16, when the gates open to the public for a grand opening celebration running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event coincides with Indio's 96th birthday and National Kids to Parks Day, and will mark the debut of a 30-acre complex at 82600 Market St. built to serve youth, adult, and recreational users at every skill level.

The park features 11 soccer fields, including a professional-level field that can also be configured for football, along with two baseball and softball fields designed to support both league and tournament play. Visitors will also find a perimeter walking path, picnic areas with shade structures and BBQs, a concession stand, restrooms, and 94 parking spaces.
